Elizabeth, we’re going to fit you for a cap. So, I’ve got to measure your head to see exactly which size of cap we need to put on. So, give me one second. I’m going to grab the measuring tape here.
All right. So, I’m going to measure right from between the eyes and I’ll be measuring to the back of the skull. Okay. I’m feeling for a spot on the back of your skull called the inion, which is kind of where that bump is everybody’s got.
Okay. So, we got a centimeter measurement there. And I’m going to grab a cap that fits with that. This is the cap. And what I want you to do is from where I measured, right between your eyes, I want you to put that little red dot.
Then you’re going to go up and over. Your ears will go in those holes and then strap it up underneath your chin. All right. Okay. I’m just going to do a little adjustment.
Okay. So, I’m going to pull back here and make sure that this fits where it needs to go. I’m going to come right here in front of you a little bit and just take a look at where these line up. You want to be able to see your ears there if that’s okay.
So, what I do next is we do what’s called motor mapping where we’re going to try and identify how much energy does it take to get through your hair, scalp, skull to reach the outer layer of the brain.
So, we’re going to find exactly how much energy that is by sending some pulses one at a time through the motor strip which controls your movements. So, we’re going to actually be controlling your right hand.
I’m going to let you feel this on your arm first. I’m going to just do this for you so you get a sense of what this feels like before I put it on your head. Okay. So, you might see your hand move just a little bit. All right. You ready? Here we go.
You feel that in your hand? A little bit. Okay. Let me increase just a hair. Here we go. There we go. Okay. A little bit of movement in the fingers. Okay.
All right. I’m going to do the same thing right here on your skull. So, I’m going to try and control your right hand a little bit. So, what I’m going to have you do is lay your hand on the armrest there and then turn it over.
So, I’m going to just do a little bit of movement and decrease a little bit of the intensity. Still a little bit. Yeah. Okay. I want you to try and make a little fist. Give me a thumbs up over there for just a second now. Give me a thumbs up. There you go.
Okay. Now, I’m going to just decrease the intensity, okay, a little bit because I don’t need so much energy to control that thumb. So, that’s about where we need to be to say right there. But that’s your motor threshold. Okay.
All right. Okay. So, that’s motor mapping. That gives us an idea of what levels of energy we need to treat at for you. All right. Not bad at all. Okay. Are you ready to begin treatment? I’m ready. Okay. Let’s do this. Great.
