Six-Week Standard TMS

The established, FDA-cleared protocol covered by most insurance plans. 36 sessions over six weeks. A good fit for patients whose schedule and coverage align with this pathway.

  • Most insurance plans accepted

  • 36 Sessions · 5 Days/weeks

  • ~6 week total

Insurance and Authorization: We are credentialed with most major insurance providers. Prior authorization is typically required and involves documentation of prior antidepressant trials. We'll assist with this process but be prepared for some administrative back-and-forth, which is standard with TMS insurance coverage. If your insurance denies coverage or the prior authorization process is prolonged, we can discuss whether a cash-pay accelerated option makes more sense for your timeline.

Note: A "covered" TMS course at a typical $60 specialist copay = $2,160 out of pocket minimum, potentially more, if deductibles aren’t met. Our accelerated options are often more affordable in total, and dramatically faster for long term resutls.

What traditional TMS is:

Traditional rTMS (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation) is the original, FDA-cleared form of TMS for depression cleared in 2008 and the protocol behind decades of clinical data. It involves 36 sessions delivered once per day, five days per week, over six weeks.

Each session targets the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex using 10 Hz repetitive pulses. Sessions run approximately 38 minutes. You'll be awake, seated, and can drive home afterward.

Published real-world response rates are approximately 50–60%, with remission in around 30–35% of patients. It works and for many patients, it's the right starting point.

What To Expect:

Response to traditional TMS follows a gradual trajectory. Most patients begin noticing meaningful change in weeks 3–4. Some experience earlier shifts; others don't see full benefit until after the course is complete and neuroplasticity consolidates over the following weeks. Scalp discomfort and headache are the most common side effects typically mild and improving after the first week. Serious adverse events are rare.

Who this Protocol Is Right For:

Traditional TMS is a good fit if you:
  • Have insurance that covers TMS and want to leverage it

  • Have a schedule that accommodates daily clinic visits over six weeks

  • Prefer the protocol with the longest track record and most extensive insurance coverage history

  • Have been referred by a psychiatrist who recommends the traditional format

This protocl may be worth reconsidering if you:
  • Have a demanding schedule that makes 36 daily visits difficult

  • Have already done a course of traditional TMS without adequate response (accelerated protocols may offer a meaningfully different outcome)

  • Are primarily motivated by getting to results quickly

The Cost:

Insurance coverage for TMS sounds like a clear advantage. It often is but the full picture is worth understanding before you commit to this path.

At a typical specialist co-pay of $60 across 36 visits, the minimum out-of-pocket cost for a "covered" course is $2,160 before deductibles, coinsurance, or the administrative friction of prior authorization. Many patients discover their actual costs are higher than expected.

Our cash-pay accelerated options start at $2,995 for the 1-Day Intensive, include in-house payment plans, and eliminate six weeks of schedule disruption. We're not steering you away from insurance we just want you to make the comparison with full information.

CONDITIONS WE TREAT

We treat the conditions that don't respond to the usual answers.

Depression (MDD)

When medication and therapy haven't been enough, TMS offers a different mechanism entirely... one that works at the level of specific brain circuits, not just system-wide antidepressants.

OCD

Our specialized deep-TMS hardware targets the networks driving intrusive thoughts and compulsive behavior offering relief that medication can't usually reach by itself.

Anxiety

Emerging clinical evidence supports TMS as a non-medication option for generalized and social anxiety, particularly for patients who haven't found relief through conventional treatment.

PTSD

TMS protocols targeting specific brain regions can reduce hyper-arousal, intrusive symptoms, and the emotional weight of traumatic memory. No medication required.
